Why Are My Teeth Sensitive?

sensitiveIf you suffer from sensitive teeth, then you likely find that eating hot, cold, sweet or spicy foods can cause pain or sensitivity. Tooth sensitivity is usually due to enamel damage. To protect your teeth -- and lessen the pain -- follow these steps:

- Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and avoid brushing your teeth straight after eating when enamel is slightly softer.

- Reduce the amount of sugary or acid food and drink in your diet.

- See your dentist if you grind your teeth as this damages teeth and enamel.

Schedule regular checkups with your dentist.

"Sensitive teeth are your body’s way of telling you that something is amiss with your smile." Talk to your dentist about your sensitivity, and follow your dentist’s advice.
