Early Orthodontic Treatment a Sensible Idea

Benefits-of-Early-Orthodontic

It may seem a little premature but children as young as six or seven should be tested for possible orthodontic problems. The reason is that this is the age when the first permanent teeth start to appear -- and any misalignment or other problems can be treated while the bones are still growing.

Teenagers are often averse to the idea of having to wear braces to correct problem teeth. But young children are more amenable to the idea.

Modern braces have come a long way from the old, chunky metal scaffolding of years gone by. They are lighter, less visible and can even be personalised with bright colourful elastic bands to make them fun and appealing to children.

Early treatment may shorten and simplify future treatment, so it makes good sense to schedule an orthodontic screening with the child's dentist sooner rather than later.
